Welcome to my page. I created this blog to reach out to those in our communities across this country who are engaged in this political process. I’ve always felt that there needs to be a forum for holding our elected officials accountable for the actions. More importantly, shedding a light on how they vote on legislation important to our communities. This election has shed a light on how this process works.

In 2000 we learned that you can win the popular vote and still lose the electorate college, making you the winner in a presidential race. I do however remember this in High School just never have I seen it up close. Now we have Super-Delegates to contend with. Unfortunately, this is just what we see being played out right before our eyes. Think about it this way, we would have never known about these rules within the Democratic Party if we did not have a primary that would not result in a candidate getting the 2025 delegates needed to win the nomination. We would not have known how the Super-Delegates can determine the outcome of this race without any accountability to their constituents. Are we going to let them continue to take our votes for granted? My intent here is to continue to highlight important legislation and how our elected officials are voting, so when they come up for re-election they have to answer to us. Gone are the days when politicians can come in and give us a few promises and a smile and get re-elected. I believe that if we continue to be engaged in this process our lives and communities will prosper.

It is my hope that we on the grassroots level can begin to dialog as to how we bring about change within our communities across this country. We can begin forging massive voting blocks within our districts by being informed about the issues, and willing to hold our elected officials accountable. For those of us who don’t think it’s possible, all you have to do is look at Congressman John Lewis. Our esteemed Congressman changed his vote as a Super-Delegate because of the pressure he received from his constituents as well as having to run against an opponent for the first time in years. His opponent is running on a platform to heed the voices of his constituents. We need to pay close attention to this race. We need to stand up and let our voices be heard across this country.

Thank you for allowing my voice to be heard and I hope that you will engage me by letting your voice be heard through this forum.

  1. I promised I would spread the word and share my perspective so here I am (with a couple of minutes to spare.)

My sentiments are very much like Robin’s with regards to this election in comparison to 2004. I am especially passionate about this election. For me, as a young professional black woman, the outcome directly impacts the quality of life afforded to me and the generations that follow. The right to vote should not be taken lightly. I say this not only because many have suffered and even died for it but also, who we allow to represent us through our voice or the lack of it, speaks to who we are and what we want for our families and ourselves. Senator Obama speaks for me. He is the candidate who exhibits good character and genuine concern for the people as oppose to the politics. He is not afraid to make an unpopular decision and stand by it because it is what is just. He seeks to unify and heal where others look to segregate further. He is hope that change is possible and we too can strive beyond what we thought was possible.

  2. I am outraged by the attempts of Dobbbs/Hannity who call themselves journalists. Why did they not also cover McCain/Clinton racists supporters with the same intensive scrunity?

  3. This is powerful information in which we all stand to gain. Keep up the good work. Thanks for the invitation.

  4. My comments are not directly related to the topics for discussion, however these are my comments regarding this year’s hopeful Democratic nominee.

I am delighted that you have created a forum, for discussion, for the views that we as African Americans may have .

I am impressed and proud of the fact that we have an articulate, charismatic, intellegent, , fair, strong, fierce, confident and caring, not to mention …………handsome African American man representing our race and our country in this election process.

I feel that when white people or others look at Obama that they see something in him that they can identify with, but when we look at him we can see things in him that look like what we represent…………….Promise!

Obama is so full of promise for our past ,present and future. I can’t help but think about our black national athem “Sing a song full of the hope that the dark past has brought us.”

Please let US not forget where we’ve come from and let us all represent to the fullest our support for the most capable candidate that represents us and our country.

I am proud of the fact that Obama, so fiercely and without fear of successful contradiction voted against the war. I am proud of the fact that he doesn’t have to come back today and apologize or retract any comments or make any excuses for having made such a bad decision. He stood up then and today I would choose him not just because he is black, but because he is unwavering and capable.

I feel confident about his ability to lead this country out of disaster and distress and into hope and confidence for change with the same results that he has consistently made changes in regulations, community organizations and in uniting people of different races, ages, diverse backgrounds, sexes, converting republicans ,etc.

As far as getting a female on board…………..I nominate Mrs. Obama for Vice-President .

  5. I knew when the MSM was parading Rev. Wright’s 10 second sound bites that something stunk. I watched his entire sermon and cried. He was right on the money, and I didn’t hear hate…I heard rationality, critical thinking and heartfelt communion with the Creator.
Rev. Wright was smeared, and I have been fuming about it for days.
When are the chickens going to roost on the MSM?
    Sigh.

  6. Thanks Foxhollowjewelry, I am a formal member of Trinity (moved to Atlanta), I have never seen Rev. Wright as a hate monger. He speaks truths. I am commited to getting this message out. This visious sound bite circulated thru youtube and blogs before it exploded to the national media. I feel we can undo this by doing the same.
